از نگاه من؛ سال جدی شدن نگرانی در انجمن. جز توران که بچه‌های میراث پارسیان در حال پایش آن بودند انجمن همچنان دیگر زیستگاه‌ها را پایش می‌کرد. . داده‌های دوربین تله ای انجمن هر سال نگران کننده تر می‌شدند.
شهریور ماه آن سال برای ما فراموش شدنی نیست. آخرین سالی که جشنواره روز ملی یوزپلنگ ایرانی برگزار شد. آن سال ما کمپینی برای اطلاع‌رسانی از وضعیت آخرین بازمانده های جمعیت آغاز کردیم. آخرین برآورد ما حداکثر هفتاد فرد بود. هدف کمپین (@70survivors )هشدار در خصوص سیر نزولی جمعیت بود.
این اولین هشدار بود. امیدوار بودیم که هشدار شنیده شود و تغییری در سیاست‌گذاری ها و رویکردهای سازمان محیط زیست ایجاد شود. اما اشتباه کردیم. این آغاز مسیری بود که پیش‌بینی آن برای ما سخت بود.
معصومه ابتکار در مراسم روز جهانی یوزپلنگ مصاحبه ای عجیب انجام داد:«با دوربین‌هایی که داشتیم،[نتایج] نشان می‌دهد که تولید مثل یوزپلنگ قابل قبول است، اظهار کرد: تولید مثل یوزپلنگ‌ها وضعیت خوبی دارد و 18 مورد توله یوزپلنگ طی ماه‌های اخیر مشاهده شده است و این‌ها همه علائم و نشانه‌های خوبی است» همشهری؛یکشنبه ۱۵ آذر ۱۳۹۴
گری لوییس، نماینده مقیم سازمان ملل متحد در ایران هم گفت:« روند جمعیت یوزپلنگ در ایران معکوس شده است» زیستبوم؛ ۱۶ آذر ۱۳۹۴

پایگاه خبری دیده‌بان محیط زیست ایران خبری مفصل کار کرد و همان روز نوشت:«از ابتدای سال جاری تاکنون تنها چهار توله یوزپلنگ در کشور شناسایی شده است که هر چهار توله نیز در میاندشت حضور دارند و تصویربرداری از ۱۸ توله یوز به هیچ عنوان صحت ندارد.» اولین هشدار را که نپذیرفتند، واقعیت را هم رسماً معکوس اعلام کردند. چرا این اطلاعات اشتباه توسط رییس سازمان حفاظت محیط‌زیست و نماینده سازمان ملل منتشر می‌شد؟ این موضوع اصلی اتفاقات سال‌های بعد بود. درگیری نه برای حفظ یوز بلکه برای اثبات واقعیت‌های تلخ اما واقعی، تازه آغاز شده بود.
